This is a small (but expanding!) collection of recipes, broken down into simple steps. Each recipe includes a list of ingredients, equipment and detailed instructions.
I have ADHD, and like many people with ADHD, I find following recipes difficult. The steps are too vague, I don't know what equipment I need until I'm halway through the recipe (at which point I usually have to stop to wash it up), and everything takes far longer than advertised. Breaking recipes down further helps me understand what I have to do and be realistic about whether I really have the time or energy to make something.
Nope! Some of them are my own extremely simple go-to meals (I would hesitate to even call them recipes), but mostly they're just breakdowns of other people's recipes (link to the original is always included).
Growing up, not only did I not learn how to cook, but I was also never fed home-cooked meals, so I had never even really seen someone cooking. I lived on microwave meals and junk food, so when I moved out I realised that I had absolutely no idea what I was doing (I did not even know how to cook pasta or make mashed potatoes), and every recipe I could find assumed you already basically knew how to cook. Learning to feed myself has been probably the most difficult thing I've had to do as an adult, but I'm finally getting the hang of it. This website is a place for me to store my recipes so I don't lose or forget about them, but I've made it public in case anyone else can benefit from it.
I give each recipe a score based on how much effort it takes. This is somewhat specific to my kitchen and location, so YMMV. I award Effort Points for the following:
